The Challenge

The creation of a new centre of excellence based around marine engineering and fabrication facilities, on a heavily contaminated post-industrial site on the Clyde Basin. The Phase 1 project involves multiple planning applications, and addresses complex site issues such as wholesale site remediation, proposed jetty works to form a new heavy lift quay adjacent to the River Clyde deep-water channel, and detailed proposals for a complex marine fabrication hall.

The Response

Initially, we devised a phased masterplan to help establish the client’s ambitious vision. This would enable phased delivery of the development and, acting as design lead on the client’s Phase 1 proposals, we prepared detailed designs for a huge marine fabrication shed, working in close collaboration with a multi-disciplinary design team. The building has been optimally positioned on site and arranged to allow for future modular expansion.
