The Challenge

We were appointed by a national house builder to design a high-density urban flatted development, adjacent to a historic former maltings building which had been converted to residential use.

The Response

The project was undertaken in two phases with a full involvement through all stages form concept design to completion. The phase 1 scheme comprising 100 units was designed to respect the adjacent building and employed a traditional elevational character to the flatted blocks to compliment the setting. The phase 2 scheme comprising a further 130 units employed a contemporary approach with a distinctive character to maximise impact on its long street frontage and provide a different market offer.
